Housing Training and Events Manager

Job Details :
The Northern Housing Consortium is the leading membership organisation for housing providers in the North. Two exciting opportunities have now arisen to join our growing team based in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear.

Housing Training and Events Manager
Salary up to £33k plus benefits


The Housing Training and Events Manager will be responsible for developing and expanding our highly successful events portfolio. This will involve: conducting detailed audits of the events marketplace and reviewing the existing portfolio; identifying and researching new event opportunities; designing the individual event programmes; recruiting and briefing speakers; enlisting and managing external associates. In order to do this, you will be fully confident in your knowledge and understanding of the key policy issues affecting housing.

You will be able to demonstrate strong commercial acumen and a sound appreciation of the social housing sector and, in particular, the Consortium’s members. The ability to communicate effectively and to engage with people at all levels is essential.

You will already have a proven track record in large volume event design and delivery.

Independent Directors

Job Details :
The Gateshead Housing Company is looking to appoint independent directors to its Board.

The company, which manages over 21,000 homes in the North East of England, has been seen by the Audit Commission as 'excellent' with 'excellent prospects for improvement’.

Any new recruit will work alongside existing independent, Gateshead Council and tenant directors, and will be involved with making key decisions about housing services across the borough.

Ideal applicants should have some knowledge of social housing issues and experience of finance, business, strategic decision-making, staff management or corporate governance.

Since the company was set up, the company’s Board has approved contractors for its HomeRepairs service and the teams that have carried out Decent Homes improvements to thousands of homes.

The company offers ongoing training and development support to members of its Board, which meets bi-monthly.

Performance Improvement Advisor
Salary up to £35k plus benefits


The Performance Improvement Advisor will join our team of experts, focussing on assisting our Members on their journey to excellence and achieving more for less by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the way they do business.

You will be able to demonstrate extensive knowledge of regulatory issues within the housing sector and of tenant facing services. You will have a successful track record of helping organisations improve their performance through their people, processes and systems. You will have a sound understanding of national and regional political and administrative structures and experience of working with the relevant committees and groups.

You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong interpersonal skills, and will be confident presenting information in both formal and informal settings.

Interviews for this role will take place on Thursday 12th August 2010.
